~ Boxed Royal Doulton Ships Figurehead Ajax HN2908 Edition No.60/950 ~
A wonderful ceramic figurehead model from Royal Doultons ‘Ships Figureheads’ series.
The figurehead is from the HMS Ajax (1809-1865) which was a 74-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy which saw service during the Napoleonic wars.
The figurehead is of a bearded gentleman with plumed helmet.
The piece was designed by S. Keenan and issued in 1980.
The piece is beautifully hand-painted in bright colours with gilt detailing.
The models were of a limited edition with this piece being no. 60 of a run of 950.
The model is stamped to the underside with the ‘Royal Doulton, Made in England’ mark and the date of 1980. It also has details of the piece, details of the ships and the edition number.
The piece comes in its original box of faux suede with an interior of crushed green velvet and is complete with wood presentation stand.

The figurehead has a height of 10 inches (25.5cm) and weighs 655g.
The box measures 10 inches (25.5cm) by 7 ½ inches (19cm) by 12 ½ inches (32cm).
The box and figurehead together weigh 2.19 Kg.

The model is in superb condition with no damage. The box is in great order with almost no wear.
