Description

*British / American, World War II, STEN Submachine Gun Magazine, by The Seymour Products Co., with 1942 Frankford Arsenal Cartridges, Inert*

An original World War II-era steel STEN submachine gun magazine retaining four inert display cartridges within the feed stack. The magazine is clearly marked "THE SEYMOUR PRODUCTS CO. / SEYMOUR, CONN.", identifying manufacture by Seymour Products Company of Seymour, Connecticut, a recognised American wartime contractor involved in the production of STEN-pattern magazines and associated military components.

Constructed in the classic pressed-steel STEN format, the magazine follows the familiar double-column, single-feed design utilised with the STEN Mk II, Mk III and later variants. Though simple and economical to manufacture, the magazine became one of the most recognisable features of the STEN system. The body retains much of its original dark military finish with expected service wear, scratches, finish loss and scattered areas of age-related oxidation.

Also included are four inert display cartridges retained within the feed stack. Three rounds are genuine U.S. World War II military surplus examples bearing the FA 42 headstamp, identifying manufacture by Frankford Arsenal in 1942. The fourth is a post-war HOWITZER .45 ACP commercial cartridge manufactured by Starline and sold under the Howitzer brand. All cartridges are inert display examples only.

Approx. Measurements – Magazine length: approx. 21.8cm.

History Note:
The STEN submachine gun became one of Britain's most important wartime emergency weapons. Developed following the evacuation of Dunkirk, it was designed for rapid, low-cost manufacture and could be produced by factories requiring minimal specialist tooling. More than four million examples were manufactured during the war and issued throughout British, Commonwealth and Allied forces, including resistance movements and clandestine organisations.

Although a British design, wartime production support extended internationally. Seymour Products Company of Connecticut became one of several American manufacturers producing STEN magazines and associated components for Allied use. Their magazines are encountered today as correct wartime accessories and form a recognised collecting field in their own right.

*Condition*
Good used condition showing service wear throughout with finish loss, scratches and areas of light oxidation consistent with age and military use. Markings remain visible and legible. Magazine body remains structurally sound and retains the four inert display rounds. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
