This is a great example of a British dated Martini Henry Mark 11 Rifle .577/450 rifle with lock dated 1894, the roman numerals 11 are also still discernable, adjustable pop-up ladder sights, sling suspension loops, bayonet mount and 23″ barrel, overall length 99cm.

The Martini–Henry rifle, employed by the British Army, is a single-shot, breech-loading firearm with a lever action. It made its debut in military service in 1871, gradually supplanting the Snider–Enfield, a muzzle-loading rifle retrofitted for cartridge use. Variations of the Martini–Henry were in use across the British Empire for a span of 47 years. This rifle incorporated the dropping-block mechanism, initially developed by Henry O. Peabody in his Peabody rifle and subsequently refined by the Swiss designer Friedrich von Martini. It also featured polygonal rifling, a design attributed to the Scottish engineer Alexander Henry.

The woodwork is in good condition given its age, free of cracks and splits but age related dents as expected for a rifle of this age. The metalwork is nice and clean with evidence of blueing. Marks are faded. Cocks and dry-fires. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
