~ Charles Wyllie – Sun Setting Over Dover Harbour – Oil on Canvas ~
An impressive oil on canvas paintingby the artist Charles Wyllie, younger brother of the famous marine artist Charles William Wyllie.
It depicts a beautiful seascape scene, with the sun setting over fishing vessels floating on a calm sea with Dover harbour in the background.
The piece is signed “C. Wyllie” to the lower right hand corner.
The painting is presented in a gilt gesso ornate frame.
~ Charles W. Wyllie 1853–1923 ~
Charles was a landscape and marine painter. Born 18 February 1853 in London, he was the brother of W. L. Wyllie and studied at Leigh’s School of Art and the R.A. Schools. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1872–1920 and at the R.O.I. He died in London 28 July 1923.

There is a small perforation to the top right hand corner. The painting is in otherwise excellent condition. The frame has some loss to the gesso, but remains in otherwise good order.
