    Description

~ Fine Twin Fusee Regency Bracket Clock By Joseph Johnson 1780-1827 ~

This clock was made by the highly respected Joseph Johnson (1780-1827) of Liverpool, England. He was a British master clock, watch and chronometer maker.

The case is of a warm oak with gilt brass fittings including a pineapple finial and lion head side handles.

There are unbevelled glass windows to the side and rear panels, the glass appears to have been replaced.

It is fitted with a five pillar, double fusee, eight day movement with an anchor escapement and a pendulum hold fast. It is also fitted with a repeating strike mechanism.

The face is white with black Roman numerals and the maker’s name. It has been restored and repainted to match the original. It has painted gilt rose spandrels. Above the dial is a painting of a rural landscape with a bridge, a river, a small house, two characters and the ruins of a medieval castle in the background.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The clock is 23.5 inches (59.6 cm) tall, 11.9 inches (30.3 cm) wide and 9.5 inches (24.3 cm) deep, including the legs.

    It weighs 11.5 kg.

    ~ Condition ~

The clock is excellent with minimum signs of wear.

The clock was serviced recently and keeps good time.
