~ Georgian Silver & 9ct Gold Pearl & Diamond Brooch ~
A gorgeous Georgian period (18th century) sterling silver brooch with 9ct gold reverse, mounted with twenty eight (28) small diamonds and four pearls.
The main body of the brooch is of sterling silver, with curlicue floral motifs, with the diamonds claw set in various places evenly
throughout.
There is a ‘large’ pearl mounted to the centre of the brooch with three smaller pearls mounted to the lower half, facing outwards.
The brooch is mounted on a 9ct gold backing with pin clasp.
The clasp has an unusual pull-barrel clasp cover with floral decoration to the end.
As with most Georgian period jewellery there are no hallmarks to the piece, though we have tested for silver and gold.
There is a small mark to one side which looks like a deliberate stamp but it’s almost impossible to say what the stamp is of.
~ Dimensions ~
The larger pearl measures 4mm in diameter.
The smaller pearls measure 3mm in diameter each.
The diamonds measure approximately 0.01 – 0.02 carats (1mm/1.5mm in diameter) each
The brooch measures 3.2cm x 3.4cm.
It weighs 8.9g.
~ Condition ~
The brooch is in a really nice condition with no damages, no missing stones and only light age wear.
