The large and heavy bronze ships badge from the bridge of HMS Fairy c1944.
HMS Fairy (J403) was an Auk-class minesweeper built by Associated Shipbuilders, Seattle, launched on 5 April 1943, and loaned to the Royal Navy under Lend-Lease. Commissioned on 24 March 1944, she was returned to the United States Navy on 13 December 1946.
The badge is of solid bronze. It is unpainted but has remnants of paint suggesting it was once fully painted.
The badge is of circular form with a rope twist border and crown atop. It features the image of a traditional fairy in flight.
The badge is attached to a wood mount.
