~ Royal Doulton Treasure Island Jug ltd. Edition 571/600 ~
A limited edition jug with a single handle and an enclosed spouted neck. It was designed by Charles Noke and Harry Fenton and was issued in 1934.
The exterior is moulded in relief and hand glazed. It shows a scene from Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel of Long John Silver and his men on the beach of Treasure Island.
The handle is moulded as a palm tree as is the front and spout.
Printed on the base of the cup is an illustration of the ‘Chart of Treasure Island’.
The base is also printed with factory marks and numbered 571 with the production limited to 600. This is one of Doultons rarer jugs of this type.
~ Dimensions ~
The jug measures 7 inches (18cm) in height and has a diameter of 6 inches (15cm). It weighs 965g.
~ Condition ~
The piece is in great condition with no cracks or chips. There is very minor crazing to the glaze in parts.
