~ Spanish Smallsword With 16th Century Blade ~
This smallsword came to us in its current refurbished condition, polished and with a replacement grip added to hold it firm. The smallsword hilt is from the earlier half of the 18th century with a pleasant series of angular faceted cut sections and an almost organically flowing ricasso.
What is most interesting about this sword is that the blade is an original cut down by Francisco Ruiz, a blade maker out of Toledo who worked between the late 16th Century and early 17th. This sword is solid in its refurbished shape with a 20th century brass peen and a new hardwood grip.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in good order with a decent patina, all the fittings are secure. The tip is rounded off.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 77 cm (30.5 inches) in length with a 60 cm (23.5 inches) blade.
