~ William L. Wyllie Oil Painting Of ‘Barges In The Mist At Sunset’ ~
A very atmospheric oil painting entitled ‘Barges in the Mist at Sunset’ by the renowned maritime artist William Lionel Wyllie, c1880.
The painting, as the title suggests, depicts barges at sunset in the mist. One barge is visible but those in the background are just hinted at, veiled in a thick sea mist.
The painting is very pleasing with a subtle palette which gives a great sense of depth of field, a painting you can drift off into!
