~ WW1 (1915) War Savings Committee Propaganda Poster ~
The poster created to sell war bonds. It is all in text; the title and text are in dark blue which is against a white background arranged in banner form, held within an orange frame. The coat of arms of the United Kingdom is featured prominently to the top centre.
The text reads: “You have in your pocket silver bullets that will stop the Germans. Lend them to your country by investing in the war loan to-day. ”.
Along the lower edge, below the orange frame, reads “Published by the Parliamentary War Savings Committee, London Poster No.6, Printed by David Allen & Sons LD. Harrow, Middlesex, W.5322, 20M, 7/15”
The poster was published by the War Savings Committee and is poster No.6. It is an original war time issued and used poster
~ Dimensions ~
The poster has a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm) and a width of 20 inches (50.8 cm).
~ Condition ~
The poster has been rolled & folded into four. There isome minor tears along the edges, with a tear measuring 4 inches (10.2 cm) along the lower edge and a small tear just above the word “Country”. The top left corner has some browning, possibly caused by water or fire. The ink remains extremely clear and the poster is still vibrant and eye catching.
