~ WW1 French Adrian Helmet With Its Original Liner And Chinstrap ~
The repainted helmet retains its original badge, liner and chinstrap.
The Adrian helmet, introduced in 1915, was the worlds first modern military helmet. Prior WW1 helmets like the German Pickelhaube were more of a statement piece and provided practically no personal protection. The Adrian was not designed to stop small arms fire but rather to safeguard the wearer – to some extent – from shrapnel caused by overhead artillery shells.
~ Condition ~
The skull has a few dings from use and the stitching on the liner is frayed in places.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet is 28 cm (11 inches) long by 20 cm (8 inches) wide by 14 cm (4.5 inches) tall.
