~ WW2 German M38 Fallschirmjäger Single Decal Italian Front Camouflage Helmet ~
The camouflage pattern indicates this helmet was used on the Italian front circa 1943.
The liner is stamped “Koot Welte GA Stahlhelm GR 71”.
As a point of interest, paratroop helmets generally have a narrower profile compared to their regular soldiers equivalent helmets, so the harness straps of the parachute wouldn’t either knock the helmet off upon deployment or break the soldiers neck.
~ Condition ~
There are five dings to the skull, one to the top, one to the front and a group of three to the front, right.
About 80 percent of the camouflage paint remains. The eagle is about 90% complete.
One side bolt is a known replacement. All other parts are original.
The leather liner is complete, as is the chin strap, both still supple. The pads are now very stiff from age and have the correct non-uniform bubbles.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet is 27 cm (10.5 inches) in length, 21.5 cm (8.5 inches) wide and 15 cm (6 inches) tall.
It weighs 1.65 Kg.
