~ WW1 Royal Flying Corps Trench Art Picture Frame ~
A beautifully made trench art photo frame with the Royal Flying Corps crest and an original photo of an RFC pilot.
The frame is made of brass and copper presumably made from used brass shell cases etc.
The two tone circular frame has engraved detailing round the circumference and is mounted with a French coin to the lower edge.
The top of the frame feature the RFC emblem of a winged wreath with crown atop. The emblem is mounted on what appears to be a
bakelite backing.
The frame is glazed and holds an original photograph of an RFC pilot.
The frame has a hinged easel type stand to the reverse.
We can presume this piece was made by a member of the RFC whilst on duty in France (as it is decorated with a French coin) during
a conflict and as the Royal Flying Corps was only in existence between 1912 -1918 we can presume that the said conflict was the First
World War.
~ Dimensions ~
The frame is 15.5cm / 6.25 inches tall.
The aperture measures 8.3 cm across and the black mount has an aperture with a diameter of 7 cm.
~ Condition ~
The frame is in very nice condition with minimal wear associated with age but no damages.
