~ Large Royal Worcester Blush Porcelain Grecian Maiden Figure c1892 ~
A large and impressive blush ivory porcelain figure of a Greek maiden by Royal Worcester dated 1892.
The lady is dressed in a long flowing toga, hand painted with delicate flowers. She carries an urn in one hand and holds another urn above her head.
The figure stands on a circular stepped base with gilt edging.
The figure bears to the underside the Royal Worcester stamp in puce with a single dot to the left of the crown denoting the year 1892.
It is also inscribed with ‘11’ and ‘C8’.
~ Dimensions ~
The figure stands at 85cm (33 ½ inches) and weighs 7.5 Kg.
~ Condition ~
There are two hairline cracks around the arm holding the urn aloft, one at the wrist and one at the top of the arm. It may be that the arm has been broken off at some point and repaired though the arm is now secure and the damage minimal.
The figure is otherwise in a very nice condition with only a few marks and some light wear to the gilt in parts.
