~ HMS Glowworm Bronze Ships Boat Badge ~
The ship’s boat badge from HMS Glowworm (1916).
An Insect-class river gunboat, Glow-worm was built by Barclay Curle in 1916. She was deployed to the White Sea in 1919 in support of White
Russian forces and was sold after the war in 1928.
The badge is of bronze in diamond shaped with a rope border and depicts a black lantern emitting silver rays against a blue background.
An official design, the pattern was approved in May 1923.
It would have originally been fitted to one of the ships launches.
The border of the piece has four mount holes, one at each corner.
The reverse is impressed ‘GLOW WORM’.

The badge measures 11.5cm (4 ½ inches) by 11.5cm (4 ½ inches).
It weighs 925g.
~ Condition ~
There is some light wear to the paintwork in parts, but otherwise the badge is in a very good condition.
