~ Circa 1905 Royal Saxon NCO’s 1st Life Guard Grenadier Regiment Pickelhaube ~
This is a model 1895 Saxony pickelhaube of the Grenadier Regiment Number 100, 12th Army Corps. It is a private purchase piece.
The helmet plate has the gilt brass state arms of Saxony over the white metal Guards eight pointed star burst.
The helmet has a chocolate brown leather sweat band and red silk lining.
The underside of the front visor is lined with black leather, and the rear one with red leather.
The spike bears the NCO’s pearl ring and is slightly taller than the standard other ranks spike. It is held in place with four domed head bolts.
The helmet is complete with its original gilt chinscales and cockades.

The helmet measures 9 inches (22.8 cm) tall with a length of 9.5 inches (24.3 cm) and a width of 7 inches (18cm).
It weighs 473 grams.
~ Condition ~
The skull has quite a lot of surface loss. It retains a good shape with tight stitching.
The chin scales are complete and the gilding is in generally decent order to the metal fittings.
The lining is excellent and complete.
