~ Finely Carved 19th Century Ottoman Empire Blunderbuss Holster Flintlock Pistol ~
The steel lock is engraved and bears the star and crescent as well as cross hatching. The hammer is also engraved with the star and crescent. The flared barrel has three proof stamps, acid etching and an engraved tang. The trigger guard, ramrod mounts and butt plate are all made of brass. The guard is deeply embossed with a stand of arms. The walnut full stock is handsomely carved with cross hatching, scales and petals over 90% of its surface. The original ramrod is in place.
~ Condition ~
The lock stays in place on half cock but doesn’t on full cock. The woodwork is in good order, there is a chip behind the tang of the barrel. There is a scarfed repair to the lower end of the butt by the the brass plate. All the metal work is in excellent condition with minimal pitting.
~ Dimensions ~
The pistol is 43 cm (17 inches) in total length with a 21.5 cm (8.5 inches) barrel. The mouth of the barrel has an interior diameter of 4.5 cm (1.75 inches).
