The hilt has a sheet steel guard and compressed black leather chequered grips that are held to the tang with four rivets. The straight plain blade is double edged for the last eight inches to the spear point. The ricasso is stamped with an arrow over WD plus inspector’s stamps over 7/78 on the reverse. The black leather scabbard has a steel chape and frog stud locket.
*Condition*
Overall the bayonet and the scabbard are in excellent condition. The leather/metal scabbard is nicely preserved. The blade does have some signs of historical pitting though not prevalent. Please refer to the images as a part of our condition report.
