~ A 19th Century Orange Lustre Plaque – Prepare To Meet Thy God ~
A beautifully crafted orange lustreware plaque on an off white ground. The hand painted centre square section reading `Prepare to Meet Thy God` amongst a floral wreath with a trumpeter above it.
From about 1837 Scott & Sons produced Sunderland lustre and the pottery produced the usual range of wares but specialised in religious plaques. They apparently did not mark their production in any way.
~ Sunderland Lustreware ~
Sunderland Lusterware is a type of pottery originating from Sunderland, England and made in the Sunderland Potteries there.
