Description

*German, WW2, NSDAP Day Badge or Tinnie, "Gautag - Süd-Hannover Braunschweig"*

This is a commemorative tin and linen badge from the NSDAP day, also known as a 'tinnie' or 'Veranstaltungsabzeichen.' It features the 'Reichsadler' symbol with a swastika, along with the text "Gautag Süd-Hannover Braunschweig - 9.-12.6. 1938" and six heraldic district/state shields. Gau Südhannover-Braunschweig was a party region of the NSDAP from 1928 to 1945.

This particular 'tinnie' is intricately woven using a technique similar to the 'BeVo-weave'-pattern.

The Winterhilfswerk was a mandatory charity drive initiated in 1931 and later embraced by the Nazi Party in 1933. It aimed to collect funds during the months of October to May for the basic needs of the poorest people during winter. The National Socialist People’s Welfare Organization distributed items like food and clothing. The Hitler Youth and other groups went door to door collecting donations, offering the latest lapel designs or booklets in return. Over 8000 different badges were produced using various materials and techniques. Wearing the latest lapel design was encouraged through community pressure, and those not participating were sometimes publicly shamed.

*Condition*
The badge shows some normal wear, and some staining. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
