Description

*Battle of the Bulge Relic, USA, WW2, M6A1 or M7A1 Anti-Tank Projectile Rocket for the M1 and M1A1 2.36 Inch Bazooka Launcher, Inert*

This is a  WW2 US military M6A1 anti-tank rocket. It was fired from a reusable Bazooka- M1A1.

The Battle of the Bulge took place in the winter of 1944, when the German Army surrounded the city of Bastogne.

The units using bazookas in this area were mainly the 101st Airborne Division: Members of the 101st Airborne Division used bazookas to guard against enemy tanks on the road to Bastogne and F Company of the 327th Glider Infantry. A bazooka team was located in a foxhole in front of the Kessler farm.

The M6A1 was the second projectile designed for the M1 and M1A1 bazooka family. The original M6 was notoriously unreliable, both with the launch and detonation. The M6A1 had improved fuze and ignition designs to help get rid of this problem. The rocket was eventually replaced with the round headed M6A3, which had a blunt head, which was intended to help prevent deflection off of armor.

The 2.36" rocket consists of a head, a stabilizer tube, and tail. The inert rocket measures approximately 22 inches long.

Please see pictures of the place where the piece was found in Belgium around Bastogne.

*Condition*
This is a fascinating WW2 relic of a rare projectile. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
