~ Early 19th C. English Staffordshire ‘Winter’ Figure ~
A Staffordshire porcelain figure of a young gentleman entitled ‘Winter’ dating to the early 19th century, around 1810-1820.
This piece would have been from a run of similar figures depicting the four seasons.
The piece is emblematic of winter depicting the young man in a hat, floral waistcoat and briches with his thick winter cloak billowing in the wind and his arms crossed over his chest to protect him from the cold winter chill.
The figure stands on a natural ground of grass and tree stump on a white square form base with scooped corners.
The figure is painted in colours with gilt detailing in parts.
There are no makers marks on the piece but this is quite usual for Staffordshire figures.

~ Condition ~
The figure has some wear consistent with age, mainly affecting the paintwork in places and wear to the gilt but otherwise is in a very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
