~ Issued 1801 Pattern Royal Navy Sea Service Flintlock Pistol ~
A rare and interesting example of the classic British Trafalgar period long sea service pistol. It has G.R. proofs to the 12 inch barrel, inspection broad arrow to the tower lock with ‘BO’ under the arrow to indicate the pistol was taken into service with ships. There is an armourers mark to the side plate of ‘MD 13′ and ’13’ to the trigger guard, done in punch lines. This denotes that the pistol was in the armoury store of a ‘Man Of War’ three deck ship, this being pistol number 13 of the middle deck. It is quit rare to find an actual issued pistol of this type as the majority on the market today were simply put in storage, never issued and sold off in pairs from the Tower Of London in the 1960’s.
~ Condition ~
Please refer to the images. The lock works well on half cock and full cock with a decent spring.
~ Dimensions ~
The pistol is 49.5 cm (19.5 inches) in length with a 30 cm (12 inch) barrel.
