Description

~ An English Bow Porcelain Figure Of A Putti Holding A Basket, c.1760 ~

The figure stands on the raised base applied with flowers. The putti holds a basket of flowers in one hand. The figure is wearing a floral garland and chaplet. It is very finely painted in coloured glazes. Unmarked.

~ Bow ~

Bow figures originated around 1745. Thomas Frye and his silent partner, Edward Heylin, owned the patent. Their British factory made everyday, practical items, but will always be remembered for their porcelain figurines

~ Dimensions ~

The figure is 5.25 inches (13.25cm) tall by 2.5 inches (6.5cm) wide and the base diameter is approx. 2.25 inches (5.5cm). The total weight is 205 grams.

~ Condition ~

The condition of the figure is decent. It has numerous losses to the leaves and flowers. The figure has been restored to the hair band area.
