Britannia Engraved Silver Bleeding Bowl, c.1926 by A&F Parsons Tessiers
This very handsome, Britannia standard silver bleeding bowl, features a plain body and a decoratively pierced handle.
The handle is engraved ‘E.V.O. 1926′.
The bottom of the bowl is engraved:’ From her Godmother’, and fully hallmarked for London with makers stamp: ‘Tessiers Ltd. London’.
~ Bleeding Bowls ~
Bleeding bowls were used to collect blood during bloodletting – a practice once carried out to treat a wide range of diseases and medical conditions.
Bleeding bowls (known as porringers in the USA) were used extensively in the 17th century. Today they are often used as wine tasters and also as Christening gifts as is the case with this piece.

The bowl is 2 inches (5cm) tall and has a diameter of 5.25 inches (13.25cm).
The handle is 2.6 inches (6.5cm) long by 3 inches (7cm) wide.
The weight of the bowl is 293.6 grams.

The condition of the bowl is very decent apart from a few small dents and minor surface wear.
