~ c1800 Cosh Probably For Royal Navy Press Gang Use ~
A very interesting 12 inch long weighted hardwood cosh, with a patterned copper wire braid wrapped to the upper area.
It looks to be a sea service concealed ‘up the sleeve’ type for ‘recruiting’ vagrants and drunk dis-orderlies at the docks area to His Majesty’s Sea Service. It dates to around circa 1800 and is in its original condition.
~ Condition ~
The piece is in good order.
~ Dimensions ~
