Description

*Chinese, Cold War - 1983 Dated, 12.7×108mm Heavy Machine Gun Round – Factory 41 – AP/Incendiary Type Projectile – Inert*

A striking Cold War era Chinese 12.7×108mm heavy machine gun inert display cartridge manufactured in 1983 by State Factory 41. Produced for use with Chinese heavy machine guns derived from Soviet designs, including the Type 54 and later Type 77 series, this example retains its distinctive coloured projectile markings with red tip and black banding, indicating a specialist armour-piercing/incendiary type loading rather than standard ball ammunition. The round is fitted with a copper-washed steel case, a common feature of Chinese military production, and displays attractive service wear and handling character.

Approx. Measurements – Height: 14.4 cm. Base diameter: 2.2 cm.

History Note:
The 12.7×108mm cartridge was developed in the Soviet Union during the 1930s and became one of the world's most widely used heavy machine gun calibres. China adopted the design and manufactured enormous quantities for People's Liberation Army service and export. Such ammunition armed infantry heavy machine guns, anti-aircraft mounts and vehicle weapons throughout the Cold War era.

*Condition*
Please see photographs as part of the condition report. Good display condition overall with age and handling wear throughout. Projectile paint shows notable chipping and wear. Copper-washed steel case displays service marks and age-related wear. Handwritten collector identification label remains attached.
