~ Circa 1800 Georgian Brass Mortar ~
A circa 1800 brass mortar used for grinding spices and medicines, flared at the top and attached to the brass base. There is a pleasing ribbed mid section.
~ Dimensions ~
The mortar has a height of 3 inches (7.6 cm) and an overall diameter of 4.5 inches (11.4 cm). It weighs 455 g.
~ Condition ~
The body has some minor wear and a few surface scratches, the brass colour inside the shell has been blackened. Having been extensively used the rims are lightly out of true. It remains in otherwise good condition.
