The rustic brown wooden handle is adorned with practical tools like a punch, screwdriver, and bottle opener, making it an ideal pocket companion for any adventure.
Originally made for the Royal Dutch Army (Koninklijke Landmacht – KL), these Dutch army knives M1952 were produced by AMEFA (Apeldoornse Messen Fabriek). Featuring brown fiber grip plates and a D-ring, these knives were issued in limited numbers from 1950 to 1983. The KL61 marked the beginning of annual listings on the handle, with production lapses in 1962, 1964, 1967, 1968, and 1969; the last issue was 1970. The KL63 edition is therefore particularly rare and sought after.
About Amefa:
Founded in Apledoon, Holland in 1931 by Eugen Hollaender, Amefa, originally named Apeldoornsche Messenfabriek NV Haagse Import Maatschappij Olanda (Apeldoornse Knife factory NV The Hague Import Company Olanda), has a rich history. Initially producing razors, the company transitioned to kitchen and pocket knives in the 1940s, supplying them to the Dutch and German armies. Hollaender, a German, applied for Dutch naturalization, at the same time as his marriage in 1937, but it got delayed in the bureaucracy of the German occupation. Post-war, the Hollaender family faced trusteeship, given the company’s German association during the occupation. Hollander, because he was German, was also imprisoned in the Willem III barracks in Apeldoorn. In the 1950s, he was naturalized as a Dutch citizen. Later it emerged that Hollaender had supported the local resistance and in 2011 On December 2, 2011, a street was named after Eugen Hollaender in the Apeldoorn Amefa quarter (the original location of the Amefa factory) for his contribution as an entrepreneur in Apeldoorn and for his brave role during World War II.
