~ Early 19th Century Pearlware Pottery Covered Tureen ~
A nice pearlware tureen by Chetham & Robinson dating to the 1820’s/30’s.
The tureen is of elongated octagonal form with twin handles and is complete with a single handled lid.
It is printed in underglaze blue with a scene depicting figures in a river landscape with large country house beyond. This scene is printed to the front,
back and lid of the tureen.
The scenes are framed with borders of foliate decoration.
The inside of the tureen has a similar foliate border to the upper edge and has the same country scene repeated to the base.
The underside of the tureen has the printed mark ‘Warranted C&R’ for Chetham & Robinson 1822-37.
~ Dimensions ~
The tureen measures 33cm (13 inches) long, 21.5cm (8 ½ inches) wide and 24cm (9 ½ inches) high.
It weighs 2.5Kg.
~ Condition ~
The tureen and lid have a few small chips to the edges and a little wear in parts to the glaze but overall are in a good condition with no major damages.
