~ Eight Day Vienna Regulator Wall Clock c1880 ~
A nice example of an eight day Vienna Wall Clock dating from the 1880’s.
The clock has a brass edged white enamel dial with black roman numerals for hours, an outer minutes ring and black hands. There is a second hand and seconds dial located just above the centre of the clock face.
It is housed in a wooden case with four short non-tapered columns to either side topped off with black finials. The decorative wooden feature on top is detachable by a dowel joint and so is the finial.
It has glazed panels to both front and sides, although the right hand side panel is currently slightly loose.
The clock has a single weight driven eight day movement.
The clock is unnamed.
It is complete with winding key.
~ Dimensions ~
The clock measures 103.5cm (40.75 inches) in height without the top feature, with the top feature the clock is 128.3cm (50.5 inches) tall. It measures 39.1cm (15.4 inches) wide and 16.5cm (6.5 inches) in depth.
It weighs 9.17Kg.
~ Condition ~
The enamel has a few hairline cracks and some discolouration to the clock face and to an enamel panel below the weight.
The clock appears to have been touched up at some point with black paint to some edges to give the wood some extra definition and some of the paint has spilled over in certain places.
The case has a few minor scratches and chips but no major damage.
Aside from these small imperfections the clock is in a nice condition with good proportions. It has been fully serviced and keeps good time.
The clock is available for collection only at our shop located in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
