*Fifth Style Siebe Gorman Divers Knife with Ebonite Grip and Brass Scabbard, c.1970-80*
Measures approximately: 19.3cm blade, 33cm overall, 34.5cm in scabbard.
Marked “Siebe Gorman” on blade. A Siebe Gorman steel double edged blade with black ebonite grip (6 rings) with nut retained brass pommel and ovate brass cross guard in a brass sheath with belt loop and drain hole to the tip.
The ultimate iteration of the ‘fifth style’ Siebe Gorman Divers knife features a flat sheath, a black ebonite handle, and an electro-engraved signature. The maker’s name is prominently etched in a larger font. Utilizing black ebonite for the handle, a material adopted after the cessation of bakelite usage, this version hails from the late 1970s to early 1980s. Notably, this variant stands as Siebe Gorman’s final authentic divers knife, excluding commemorative editions crafted for collectors rather than divers, such as those produced for the 175th anniversary of Siebe Gorman.
