    Description

~ Fine Circa 1750 French Long Gun Muzzle Loader Double Barrel Shotgun Converted To Percussion ~

The walnut half stock, engraved with scrolls behind the hammers, is fitted with a blank silver cartouche and a velvet pad held in place with brass studs. The barrels have a foresight, an underslung ramrod and two belt loops. The trigger guard is rather elegant. The name on the lockplate is rather difficult to make out, my closest guess us Benorb Fords.

The top flats of the barrels are engraved with floroal patterns, between them chased out in gold are the words ‘ANON ORDU’.

    ~ Condition ~

Both hammers stay on half cock and cock with a strong spring. The nipples are decent. There is some loss to the stock by the barrels on both sides. The velvet pad is worn.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The firearm is 127 cm (50 inches) in length with a 86 cm (34 inches) barrel.
