WW1 Imperial German 1898/05 Butcher Bayonet & Scabbard. A good example, single edged blade widening to the point, the forte stamped with details of scarce maker R. Stock & Co Berlin-Marienfelde. The back edge with issue stamps indicating 1915, it carries the Royal Cypher of Kaiser (Emperor) Wilhelm II of Prussia, who reigned 1888–1918. The hilt with steel turn up quillon and wooden slab grips.

Housed in its original steel scabbard.

This sword bayonet was designed for use with the 8mm Gewehr 98 bolt action Mauser Rifle, being one of the main service rifles of the German Army pre and post WW1. This is a second pattern example of the M1898/05 sword bayonet, known as the n/A (neuer Art = newer model). The second pattern lacked the first pattern’s vestigial muzzle ring (or ‘ears’) and had a flashguard.

Overall good condition. Push button works well. Clear marks. This is a good example with expected signs of wear and tear. Blade fits very nicely into the scabbard. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
