~ Pair Of Gebruder Heubach Vases c1900 – Artist Signed ~
A lovely Pair of hand-painted vases by Gebrueder Heubach dating to the late 1800’s/early 1900’s.
Founded 1820 in Lichte in Thuringia, Germany, Gebrueder Heubach was a porcelain manufacturer notably famous for its porcelain dolls, which are highly collectable.
This pair of unusual vases are of slim bulbous form with wavy rims.
They are both hand-painted with a landscape scene overlapped with a large cobweb.
The images are in shades of grey upon a white ground.
The vases are both signed by the artist. The signatures are difficult to make out but look like ‘M Kilo’.
They are both imprinted with the makers mark consisting of the letters ‘G’ & ‘H’ entwined below a sunrise with ‘DEP’ below.
They also have the same marks to the bases this time in green ink without the ‘DEP’ below.
One has an ‘X’ etched into the base.
Both vases have small purpose made holes to the centre of the webs and to the rims. For what purpose we cannot say.
~ Dimensions ~
Each vase measures 11.5cm (4 ½ inches) wide, 7cm (2 ¾ inches) deep and 12cm (4 ¾ inches) in height.
Together they weigh 565g.
~ Condition ~
The vases are both in a beautiful condition with no cracks, chips or other damage.
There is a tiny bit of wear around the edges of the holes on the rims.
