~ Pair of Small Swedish 830 Silver Candlesticks c1979 ~
A stylish pair of small Swedish silver candlesticks dated 1979.
The candlesticks are of filled silver with weighted bases.
They have circular sconces (or drip pans), shouldered square tapered stems and circular bases with green baize to the underside.
The stick are fully hallmarked with three crowns in a trefoil (the Swedish standard mark), the letter ‘S’ in a hexagon which indicate
silver and ‘830’ which is the standard fineness of Swedish Silver.
They are also stamped with the date no. ‘E10’ for 1979 and with a makers mark of ‘GAB’. There is a stamp on both which looks like a
stylised ‘E’ which we believe is a local stamp but we can’t identify.
~ Dimensions ~
The candlesticks each have a height of 15cm (6 inches) and a base diameter of 8.5cm (3 ¼ inches).
Together they weigh 360g.
~ Condition ~
One candlestick has a slight lean and a couple of small dings, the other has a ding to the rim, a scratch to the stem a mark to the base
and a compression to the edge of the base.
Both have slightly uneven bases.
None of these small damages are particularly significant though and the candlesticks are otherwise in a very nice condition.
They both present very well.
