– WW2 British Nickle Second Pattern Commando Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife belonging to John Vodden 9 Commandos –
This 2nd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes ‘FS’ Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941. This is a near mint condition WW2 Rifleman’s nickel plated 2nd pattern, FS dagger and scabbard. The guard is marked /|\56 and the initials J.V engraved on the grip. Housed in a leather scabbard with nickel chape. This FS belonged to John Voddenof the 9 Commandos.
Rifleman John Vodden was reported missing on the 3rd February 1944 during operations at Monte Ornito and Monte Faito, Italy, latter confirmed killed in action. John Voddon does not have a war grave. He was the Son of Arthur O.J and Margaret Voddon, of Winton, Hampshire.
* Condition *
The Fairbairn Sykes knife and Scabbard is in good condition for its age and varied use. The Scabbard has been slightly repaired, although this might have been during combat, there is little pitting or rust on the knife. Please see the photographs as they form part of our condition report.
