~ 9 Carat Gold Mechanical Pencil #1 ~
This mechanical pencil is a lovely example of its kind. It has a fully functioning mechanism and would serve as a beautiful gift or collector’s piece. This mechanical pencil was made at the height of their fashion in the mid 19th century.
The pencil has been engraved with the name ‘Alfred J. Bennett’ and was made by an Elizabeth Eaton in London.
The piece was assayed in Birmingham in 1854 and bears all the correct markings for 9 Ct gold.
There is a second engraving by the cap of the pencil that appears to read ‘MASCOT, REGE.’.

The pencil is 12.5 cm long.
The pencil is 1 cm wide at the top.
The pencil weighs 25 grams.
~ Condition ~
Aside from the marks where the clip has been rebrazed on, the pencil is in very good condition.
There are some small dents to the gold on the top of the pencil.
