~ Circa 1910 William Moorcroft For Liberty & Co. Claremont Toadstool Bowl ~
Both the interior and exterior of the bowl are decorated with red, brown and blue toadstools on a green and blue ground.
The underside is back stamped for “Made For Liberty & Co.” (this was in used from circa 1903 till 1913), R N 420081 (for the registered design number) and William Moorcroft’s signature in green.
The toadstool design, introduced in 1904 and named Claremont by Liberty & Co. remained in production for nearly 40 years, though with this particular back stamp the piece can be no later than 1913.
A highly desirable piece of early Moorcroft.
~ Condition ~
The bowl remains free from chips, cracks and restoration. There is general crazing to the glaze. The interior has 3 small un-glazed areas where the glazed bubbled during firing.
~ Dimensions ~
The bowl has a diameter of 23 cm (9 inches) and a height on base of 11 cm (4.25 inches).
It weighs 1.25 Kg.
