~ 18th Century German Royal Hunting Sword ~
This is a fine example of a German hunting sword from the 1700s. It features a brass mounted hilt with a 66cm straight blade. The sword has an S-shaped crossguard decorated as horse legs and a curved, bone grip held together with three large brass bolts. It also has a shell at the base of the blade and decorative etchings on the blade. These etchings include a stag, a hog along with others.
*Condition*
This sword is in excellent condition for its age and use. The blade has some light pitting generally but it is heavier towards the tip. Most of the etchings remain clear. The grip is slightly deformed but remains strong and intact. Please see pictures for more detail.
