~ Arts And Crafts Copper & White Metal Dish ~
A fine decorative Art and Crafts copper dish dating to the beginning of the 20th century.
The Arts and Crafts movement was an international trend in the decorative and fine arts that began in Britain and flourished in
Europe and North America between about 1880 and 1920.
It stood for traditional craftsmanship using simple forms, and often used medieval, romantic, or folk styles of decoration. It advocated
economic and social reform and was essentially anti-industrial.
The dish we have here is of circular planished form.
It has repousse decoration of knotted bows and is reverse set with stylised heart motifs.
The dish is not signed and is without marks.
~ Dimensions ~
The dish has a diameter of 31.5cm (12 ¼ inches) and a depth of approximately 2cm (¾ of an inch).
It weighs 880g.
~ Condition ~
There is the tiniest nick to one edge and the opposite edge has a small mark.
The rim is a little uneven, slightly bent out of shape from use but this is only a minor problem and the dish still presents well.
There are no other issues, no damage and only light wear from age and use.
