~ Circa 1900 Moorcroft MacIntyre Aurelian Slender Pottery Vase ~
A fabulous baluster shaped vase with Aurelian transfers printed decoration in blue with gilt decoration & gilded panels with red patterns on the necks.
The Aurelian wares were decorated partly by transfer (hence the slightly soft impression of the blue underglaze transfers to the bulbous parts of the vase) and the hand decoration and gilding on the necks of the vases with on-glaze enamels.
William Moorcroft joined the firm of James MacIntyre and Co. in 1897 and worked there until 1912.
~ Dimensions ~
The vase has a height of 12.2 inches (31 cm) & a overall diameter of 4.5 inches (11.4 cm). It weighs 695 g.
~ Condition ~
There is wear to the patterns, and the gilding has possibly been retouched. There is a hairline crack that goes across most of body. The piece remains in otherwise good condition.
