*German made, cWW2, Trench/Boot “Faca de Ponte” Dagger, with original leather sheath*
18.3cm slim blade, 29cm overall.
Very attractive, slim, unsigned, dagger that is redolent of “High Life” daggers, made in Solingen. Some were for export to North Brazil and were called “Faca de Ponta” or pointed knife. Handle in yellow Catalin with metal ornaments. Aluminum crosspiece. Blade engraved with floral tableau. With its original leather sheath.
Catalin was an early rival of Bakelite, and was invented in 1927. It wasn’t used after WW2 as other, newer celluloid-like materials were invented.
*Condition*
Good used condition. Blade has some pitting and knocks. Leather sheath is possibly missing its decorative chape. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
